World Amateur Radio Day on 18 April

Bellevue Amateur Radio Club is hosting an Amateur Radio Open House at University of Nebraska-Omaha, student center, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of International Amateur Radio Union (IARU).  The IARU is instrumental in sharing radio technology enjoyed by citizens world wide.  Amateur Radio.  For this event Amateur Radio Operators will have a variety of technology on display for visitors to see and participate with.  For example, a working satellite will be on display and we will have a MOTUS Wildlife tracking system on display.  An objective is to display Citizen Science and fun aspects of the amateur radio hobby.  The event is open to the public.  The event will be open for visitors at 10am until 1pm

Learning Outcomes

Visitors attending this event will see the applied science of electrical engineering, computer science, radio frequency applications, antenna design. The skill of amateur radio operation in the event of emergency communications
